Awilda Salon: 2008

After hearing several glowing reviews about Awilda, I finally made it in for a haircut and blowdry yesterday. My appointment was with Awilda and I felt very welcomed from the moment I got there, from the receptionist to Awilda's assistant to Awilda herself. After a fantastic shampoo which included a wonderful scalp massage, Awilda quickly and adeptly sized up my hair situation and got to work on giving me the best haircut I've had. She also noticed some highlights I've been (apparently not so subtly) trying to grow out and suggested a quick means for getting rid of them. And the blow drying! She is absolutely fantastic. I came home with shiny, gorgeous hair - I have not felt better in ages.

I've been going to Katie for about a year now and I really wouldn't go anywhere else for my cut and color. (I made a mistake a few months ago going to someone else in NY and let me just say I was horrified and I was traumatized and my side bangs are finally returning to the way I like!) I'm here every 6 weeks and every time I want to do something different with my hair, Katie is right there giving me suggestions. She chooses cuts and colors that go with my face shape and skin tone. I definitely recommend this place!

Awilda Salon is the best salon in LA! I wish I could keep them a secret, but thats unfair. They have no attitudes like some people in LA, and for an East Coaster like myself it was the perfect place. Heather and I bonded right away and I feel like I have known her for years. She gives natural looking highlights, none of that platinum stuff, because thats not what I was looking for. She was worth every penny I paid for her! I will definitely be back to see her in the near future.

Awilda has been cutting my hair for 10 years and she is not only a truly gifted hair stylist, but she really listens to what you want. I had a hair highlighting disaster at home that she completely fixed and I left the salon with my hair looking absolutely beautiful, natural and so shiny. Lisa, the receptionist is a sweetie and the genuine camaraderie amongst the staff is refreshing. The music they play is also great. My Sister-in-Law is getting married in November and I think we are going to take over the whole place one early evening before her bachelorette party to get absolutely gorgeous before we go out.
